Swansea Print Workshop was set up in 1998 by a small group of artists with the intention of providing professional printmaking and drawing facilities in the Swansea area and of encouraging and promoting the art of printmaking.
With the help of a substantial grant from the Arts Council of Wales, SPW’s premises were refurbished in 2001. Since then, they have grown rapidly, and are now a major contributor to the visual arts in Wales.
This group of eleven invited SPW artists have come together specially for this exhibition at the Tower Gallery. Their work is an eclectic mix of imagery and subject matter and they are representative of this highly creative and professional printmaking facility. This exhibition also reflects the workshop’s wide ranging and comprehensive specialist printmaking equipment and this can be clearly seen in the range of printmaking techniques on show.
